100 Year Old Newspapers and Shops

What do they have in common?

We’re severely sorry … for the delayed New Year wishes!

Happy 2024 everyone. It’s going to be a BIG year for Shops Around The Corner, and we’re excited that you’re along for the ride. Your support means soo much to us and we couldn’t do it without you!

Now for this week’s news

Shopper Chronicles: Max Kabat of The Sentinel

Who knew you could open up a retail store to support a 100-year-old printed paper? Well, you can! The Sentinel is a multidisciplinary shop in Marfa, Texas that we’re sorta obsessed with - it’s a coffee shop, retail/ design(ish), and coworking store all in one. Store Happenings

Hi-Lo is a non-alc store in LA that’s doing alt-free tastings on Friday & Saturday at Long Beach! If you’re in the area, go check it out! PS they’re also hiring at their Costa Mesa location.

Caputo’s Market in BK just got olive oil brand Yiayia and Friends on the shelves. Yiayia branding sorta reminds us of one of our fav childhood books Go Away Big Green Monster

Big Night Market in BK has a beautiful display window. It was painted by Phthalo Ruth. She’s collabed w/ Anthropologie on pretty sick pants. Do you think more people will wear food-inspired pants in 2024?

oo35mm, the go-to destination for Korean and Asian beauty in NYC, is hiring a store manager and beauty advisor. More info here.

Store Highlight: Lady and Larder

Lady and Larder is a “superette” in Los Angeles. Essentially, it’s a beautifully designed store that stocks products that look amazing on shelves AND taste good! They’re also known for their incredible charcuterie boards and have a virtual class that you can buy for yourself or the cheese lover in your life.
